Do Australian labradoodles have hair or fur?

Australian labradoodles have hair and fur. While every dog’s fur coat is made up of individual strands of hair, this breed has three distinct coat styles, depending on which dogs they’ve been bred from.

  • Hair coats feel coarse and slightly wiry. They can shed heavily and aren’t the best option for people with dog allergies. They need frequent brushing (5–10 minutes daily) to remove loose hair, as well as regular grooming.
  • Wool coats are tightly curled, slightly coarse, and non-shedding. They need regular trimming and grooming.
  • Fleece coats are soft and are light to non-shedding. They can be straight or curly. They also need grooming several times per year.
