A cane corso can run as fast as 32 mph (51.4 kph). As a descendant of Roman war dogs, the cane corso breed is exceptionally agile. They also have very strong hind legs that can produce a large burst of speed when sprinting.
For these reasons, the breed is considered a natural hunting dog that is quick at catching and subduing its prey.
With that said, 32 mph (51.4 kph) is the breed’s top speed. Despite being fast runners, each individual cane corso may not be able to sprint that quickly. Their speed also largely depends on their level of training, lifestyle, height, age, and health.
